Allseas is a world-leading contractor in the offshore energy market with dynamism, rapid progress, and pioneering spirits at its core. To expand our Data & Analytics team in Delft, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to provide cutting-edge solutions to help businesses harness the power of data and make data-driven decisions.

Your Role

As a Senior Data Engineer within our organization, you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into powerful insights that drive our strategic decisions. You'll leverage Azure, Terraform, Databricks, Kafka, DBT, and PowerBI to architect and implement complex data ETL, batch processes, and streaming pipelines specifically focusing on IoT use cases and building a cutting-edge data lakehouse utilizing Delta Lake tables. Your work will enable our teams in our offices and on board our vessels worldwide to access, analyze, and act on data more effectively than ever before. You will also collaborate with end users and stakeholders on projects and new technologies to provide IT best practices.

Other job-specific tasks:

  • Leveraging Azure services, specifically Databricks.
  • Implement real-time data streaming pipelines for processing IoT device data using Kafka, Azure IOT, and stream processing like Spark Streaming, Flink/PyFlink, or Azure Stream Analytics, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Build and optimize a modern data lakehouse architecture, employing Delta Lake tables for efficient data management and organization.
  • Create and maintain an environment for PowerBI dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders, enhancing decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust data solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Uphold data governance and quality standards, maintaining the integrity and security of the data infrastructure.
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and refine data pipelines and architectures to meet evolving business needs and technical requirements.
  • Design and develop scalable, patternizable, and reliable data ETL batch processes.

What We Expect From You

We're on the lookout for a self-starting, skilled, and meticulous Senior Data Engineer who excels in a collaborative environment, with a strong foundation in data engineering and a track record of deploying scalable data solutions. Your expertise in automated testing of data pipelines will be key to ensuring the highest quality of our data infrastructure.

The candidate we are looking for has a good understanding of IT fundamentals regarding infrastructure, Azure Cloud, software integrations, operating systems, and databases. He/she has a desire to automate and innovate and is able to adapt to change and picks up new information quickly. You have good communication skills, are proactive, and like to collaborate with your team/colleagues.

Besides that, you have:

  • HBO/BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Expertise in SQL and familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Scala for data processing.
  • Demonstrable experience with data modeling, warehousing, ETL processes, and real-time data streaming.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication in English and teamwork abilities, with a history of successfully working in cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile and associated tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Experience with CICD and associated tools like Git and Terraform.

What We Offer You

Working at Allseas allows you the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with creative thinking, collaboration, and down-to-earth culture at its core.

You can expect:
