The Role

Are you passionate about structural analysis and eager to work on groundbreaking projects? At Damen Naval, we’re looking for a Foundation Design Analyst to join our Naval & Structural team. In this role, you'll be at the heart of innovative ship design, contributing to detailed engineering that ensures our vessels are built to last.

Key Accountabilities

As a Foundation Design Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and analyzing structural foundation solutions that ensure strength, stiffness, and vibration compliance with the highest standards.
  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Optimizing structural designs to be cost-effective, producible, and maintainable throughout the lifecycle of the vessel.
  • Working with FEM engineers to validate and refine designs when necessary.
  • Delivering high-quality engineering outputs within agreed timeframes and budgets, adhering to stringent quality standards.
  • Evaluating vendor and subcontractor proposals, ensuring technical compliance and seamless integration into ship designs.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and client specifications.
  • Integrating technical components from suppliers into innovative and functional ship designs.

Skills & Experience

To excel as Foundation Design Analyst, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience with ship structures in shipbuilding and/or the offshore industry (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with ship class calculations and tools such as DNV-GL Nauticus Hull, LR-SSC, or BV MARS2000.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset combined with attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to succeed in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Good command of the English language both written and verbal.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
