Graduation: Contract Management Procedure for Service Projects

About us

Damen Services provides its services to the customers of Damen Shipyards as a total services solution provider. Damen Services is responsible for carrying out a wide range of service activities worldwide and on a commercial basis, resulting from the start-up, deployment and lifetime extension of delivered installations/vessels. Commissioning, repair, warranty, service and maintenance activities are the most prominent of these. Also, the realization of training for crews, the delivery of ships, maintenance management and the supply of parts during (new) construction are part of the services portfolio. Finally, as a business partner of Damen Shipyards' customers, Damen Services also realizes structural and long-term projects.

The role

Within Damen Services, we have multiple different teams that support parts of the solutions that we provide. This assignment is under the wings of the Contract Manager, who oversees all different contracts and comes into play when necessary.

You will do research to develop and implement a detailed Contract Management Procedure, for Damen Services, within six months. The program will address a few topics, where we have a dedicated timeline planned out for. You will get into the stages Contract Review, Performance and Monitoring, Change Management, and finally Contract Close-Out. These stages are approached for the Contract Management role during the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase. A specific focus will include assisting in the development of the Project Management Plan (PMP) during the FEED phase.

The role demands that you have excellent communication skills, as you will not only be researching but also presenting your findings. This also includes incorporating stakeholder engagement through workshops and presentations. These will engage stakeholders, ensuring alignment, adoption, and effective implementation of the procedures.

Key accountabilities

You will be responsible for certain deliverables. These include a FEED risk register, monitoring plan and training materials, to name a few. You may present, organize workshops, write the plans and make sure stakeholders are involved in the project. We expect you to do this independently but of course you will have a mentor available to you. The Contract Manager is your daily supervisor.

Skills & experience

At least several skills/experiences from the following list are required to be considered:

  • You are a BSc/MSc student within the fields of Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or something similar.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Understanding and interest in contract law and project management principles.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office package.
  • English communication skills are mandatory, Dutch language skills are a plus.

What we offer

  • An internship/ graduation fee and travel allowance will be paid for the duration of the assignment.
  • A pleasant and dynamic, international work environment with informal atmosphere
  • Mentoring at academic level will be available throughout the internship with bi-weekly progress updates.
