Do you want to contribute to national training activities in data stewardship and FAIR data? Then this job is for you!

Job description

4TU.ResearchData is a research infrastructure, community and training provider whose mission is to enable researchers from science, engineering and design disciplines to make a global impact with research data and software. A key national collaboration for 4TU.ResearchData related to training is Research Data Netherlands (RDNL), together with DANS, SURF and Health-RI. Through this coalition we work together to increase the skills and capacity of data professionals, such as data stewards, across the Netherlands.

As Training Coordinator (Research Data Netherlands) at 4TU.ResearchData you will lead our contribution to a project with RDNL to develop a national training and community platform for data professionals. You will work closely with colleagues from 4TU.ResearchData, RDNL partner organisations and other stakeholders to develop and deliver a training curriculum for data professionals, deliver the national platform as a point of contact for those seeking training and resources, and help to create governance and sustainability models for the platform. The project is funded by Open Science NL (part of NWO), the national programme that aims to promote and accelerate the transition to open science in the Netherlands.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of a training curriculum for data professionals, and for aspiring trainers (train the trainer), building on existing RDNL training and national and international developments in the field, and implementing pedagogical best practices;
  • Contribute to the delivery of training for data professionals;
  • Contribute to the delivery of a national platform (website) for those seeking training and resources;
  • Contribute to tasks related to platform governance and sustainability;
  • Liaise and collaborate with RDNL partners and other stakeholders to fulfil project tasks/milestones and complete relevant deliverables;
  • Support other colleagues within and outside the 4TU.ResearchData team, as appropriate and relevant.

About 4TU.ResearchData: We provide a trusted digital repository which supports Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data and software by offering curation, sharing, long-term access and preservation. Our community and training activities facilitate knowledge sharing, help to upskill data professionals and researchers, and promote open and reproducible science. 4TU.ResearchData is governed and led by the four technical universities in the Netherlands: Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Twente and Wageningen University & Research. 4TU.ResearchData collaborates widely as part of national and international initiatives to support FAIR data and open science.

About RDNL: Research Data Netherlands (RDNL) is a national coalition of data service providers and expertise networks whose mission is to promote implementation and long-term sustainability of FAIR research data in the Netherlands.

Job requirements

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who have:

  • Demonstrated experience in training development and delivery, preferably in academic contexts;
  • Expertise in research data management and FAIR data, including an understanding of the role and needs of data professionals (e.g. data stewards);
  • An ability to work and collaborate with multiple project partners and engage with stakeholder groups with diverse perspectives;
  • Good communication and team-working skills;
  • Excellent command of English and willingness to learn Dutch if not yet proficient.
