Introduction

Within the ASML product portfolio, Yieldstar is a market leading optical metrology tool used to measure overlay of developed or etched lithography patterns. The overlay information is used by ASML's customers to control the yield of their manufacturing processes. The Yieldstar Optical Column Department is responsible for the optical systems that are used in the actual overlay measurement. We continuously strive to improve our products and to do so we are steadily improving the monitoring of their performance, and the correlating key performance indicators to design parameters.

Your assignment

The purpose of this internship is to analyze the quality of the optical performance of ASML metrology systems. You will collaborate closely with a team of architects and engineers working in the Optical Column department.

For this assignment, some of your tasks will include:

  • Build (MATLAB) tooling and create dashboards to convert available data into useful information;
  • Trace back the system behavior to relevant (optical) design specifications and formulate hypotheses for potential improvements;
  • Use "design of experiments" on an actual machine or use simulations to test these hypotheses;
  • Propose design improvements;
  • Present findings and document your progress.

Your profile

To be a match for this internship, you:

  • Are busy with your master's in Physics, Optics or in a related Engineering study;
  • Are skilled in tooling like MATLAB and/or Python;
  • Possess basic knowledge of optics and image processing;
  • Are solution oriented and have a hands-on mentality;
  • Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).

This is an apprentice and/or graduation internship for 3-5 days a week (2-3 days on-site) with a duration of 4 - 12 months. The start date is as soon as possible.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
  • You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
