Introduction to the job

As an Application Engineer in the Customer Support Applications and Business Support (ABS) department you will join and become an expert in 1 of the 6 competency teams. Your main goal is to have satisfied customers through proactively providing customized application solutions and creating tomorrow’s value with ASML products and services that enable our partners’ technology and manufacturing roadmaps. As third line support for our customers you will be based in ASML headquarter in the Netherlands and from there you support our colleagues worldwide, in countries such as USA, South Korea and Taiwan. 😊

Role and responsibilities

Within Customer Support the ABS department supports the optimal use of our machines in the customer’s production process. You would be part of a global applications community serving all Business Lines: EUV, DUV and Applications. This would involve:

  • Representing the voice of the customer communicating their needs and requirements to the related business lines;
  • Supporting the new product introduction projects to demonstrate the value added with the customer on their premises. You would be responsible to tailor the product for the best performance based on customer use case;
  • Running performance improvement projects in cooperation with customers and translating the results into improvement specifications for our development department;
  • Providing escalation support and sharing knowledge to support ASML local regional teams remotely or onsite. You would capture learnings into the proper documentations or update the existing the documentation;
  • Cross functional work through close collaborations with development and engineering (D&E) teams;
  • Providing training to our customers and the local organizations so that our on-site engineers could provide the latest and best customer support;
  • Determining solutions to customer-related lithography needs together with input from other internal departments. This focuses on how to extract the best results from our machines, finding innovative technical alternatives where established practices don’t work.
  • Visiting customers internationally (up to 30% when required) to optimally fit systems into the customer’s production process and provide tailor-made application support;

Education and Experience

To handle the technical challenges and opportunities you would face as an Application Engineer, you need:

  • A Master’s Degree or PhD in a technical field. For example: Mechanics, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or a similar engineer degree.

The following experiences are also valuable:

  • Experience in an integrated circuit manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on lithography and imaging;
  • Experience in a (technical) customer focused position.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.).
