Job Description

This Operations Engineer role is within the FX Bonds and Rates Area of the Markets and Treasury Tribe. The FX Bonds and Rates Area is responsible for systems that enable Rabobank to electronically connect the Markets & Treasury trading value chain seamlessly and competitively with its clients, internal business partners, and multilateral pricing and execution platforms.

You and your job

As an Operations Engineer, you provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support for the applications within our area. Your support duties involve interacting with stakeholders (users, vendors, analysts, developers, testers) and offering advice, solutions, and tactical developments as required by the business or to support the technology platform. Support, maintenance, and changes to applications are managed and delivered through agile methodologies, with teams working in scrums. Operations Engineers are integral members of these scrums, adhering to DevOps practices. You are capable of taking over the basic activities of other DevOps team members when necessary, such as analysis, development, and testing. The role requires participation in an on-call rota for out-of-hours batch support, but primarily necessitates in-office presence during normal business hours.

Key activities

  • System support and maintenance, handling incidents, and addressing other tasks as prioritized by the scrums and stakeholders, particularly the Product Owner.

You and your talent

We are seeking a talented and experienced Operations Engineer who can work independently when needed but thrives as a team player, knowing when to involve others and ask questions. You excel in complex situations, communicate effectively, and keep stakeholders well-informed. Communication is crucial with colleagues both onsite and offsite. You have a strong drive for personal development in new specializations and are capable of mentoring less experienced team members.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and expertise (but if you are close to this, we still want to hear from you):

  • Monitor applications using tools such as SM9, functional mailboxes, and specialized monitoring tools like Splunk.
  • Providing a level of support in line with the SLAs in place
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, including ad hoc requests from colleagues, business units, and interconnected applications.
  • Develop Product Backlog Items and provide technical insights to the Product Owner and Tech Lead.
  • Participate early in change processes to define operational requirements and ensure system operability, maintainability, robustness, and performance.
  • Assist with testing activities and perform maintenance on test environments.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using SQL, Ansible, and other relevant tools.
  • Oversee and support infrastructure changes, including hardware, middleware, and connectivity.
  • Proven experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies, coupled with a DevOps mindset.
  • Familiarity with Azure Pipelines (YAML + Azure DevOps) and CheckMarx.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, ensure adherence to Agile principles, and support the team in achieving their goals.
  • Focus on regulatory compliance and control tasks to ensure our systems meet all necessary standards and requirements.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, with the ability to take initiatives and drive projects from concept to completion.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team setting, ensuring smooth communication and coordination.
  • Fluent in English, with strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • You are eager to learn and show a steep learning curve.

Key advantages to the role

  • Deep understanding of products used in Fixed Income
  • Good understanding of pricing, execution, risks and hedging strategies
  • Good understanding of regulatory topics, for example MiFID pre/post trade reporting and Algo trading regulations.
  • Good understanding of relevant trade flows (pricing, quoting, RFQ, STP, settlement, regulatory reporting etc.)
  • At least 2-4 years of experience as a Scrum Master for IT teams (IT knowledge is essential).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • PSM 1 certification.
  • Located in the Netherlands
