Are you ready to make your mark in a dynamic role that combines engineering excellence with the thrill of maritime innovation? At SMIT Salvage, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Asset Engineer to join our team. As an Asset Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the reliability and availability of our global salvage, diving, and diving support equipment.

In this exciting position, you will work closely with the Asset Manager to prioritize and execute maintenance and repair tasks. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment meets global operational standards and complies with industry regulations. You will be responsible for providing regular updates on equipment status, managing Classification Society aspects, and coordinating the commissioning of assets during mobilization.

With a keen eye for detail, you will prepare procurement specifications, investigate equipment malfunctions, and develop sound technical solutions. You will also play a pivotal role in conducting inspections, audits, and budget preparations, all while supporting our Technician Team both onshore and offshore.

Your responsibilities as asset engineer are

  • You will assist the Asset Manager in the preparation and monitor of the annual equipment maintenance and repair budget and CAPEX budget.
  • Provide leadership towards achieving the “No Incident, No Accident” objectives of our company and comply with all RBW and BSS NINA and SHE-Q policies with the ultimate aim of zero personal accidents, zero damages to equipment and property and zero incidents with environmental impact.
  • You will Liaise with internal support departments, amongst which but not limited to: Operational, Procurement and Logistics, Finance, Commercial, R&D and Tender department.
  • You ensure that all (technical) incidents are investigated and reported correctly and timely and that corrective and preventive actions are implemented promptly.
  • You will assist in salvage tool development projects.

Your qualities and experience

You can move ahead as an asset engineer if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures, diving systems (preferred), and Classification Society Rules and Regulations.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • A willingness to travel globally and work on location for extended periods.

Extra information

  • Your team: You will be part of the global Asset Management team and will report to the Asset Manager.
  • Where you will work: You will work partly from our office in Papendrecht and partly in our warehouse in Vlaardingen. Next to that you will visit our sites in Cape-town, Singapore, Houston and Macae regularly.
