COP Subsea Engineer

The COP Subsea Engineer is a key team member of the Infrastructure Squad. This role works internally and externally to assure the appropriate and effective application of best subsea management practices and available Industry Guidance.

Key responsibilities:

Providing technical and execution leadership for COMPANY’s Underwater Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance (IRM) requirements. These activities include:

• Integrating and managing the execution of the subsea (IRM) programs based on scopes of work defined by Structural, Pipeline, and other relevant engineering disciplines
• Facilitating COMPANY’s integrity assessment processes by management of Inspection Data through a database, i.e., Integrity Elementz
• Identifying, prioritizing, and managing the integrity threats and opportunities by review of Anomalies found during Subsea IRM campaigns in close collaboration with Structural and Pipeline engineering disciplines and asset stakeholders
• Ensuring Scopes of Work are scheduled in a timely manner for sharing with Subsea Execution Contractor, Integrated Planning, and other stakeholders for Marine Assurance and HSSE
• Collect and review all relevant documentation and ensure timely preparation for scope execution (work packs) and reporting for distribution to relevant in-, and external parties.
• Responsible to have competitive contracts available for Subsea execution, including Vessel, Remotely Operated ROV’s and/or manned Diving, as well as for supporting specialists, and/or Equipment
• Maintain a pool of call-off Offshore Professionals to oversee the execution of operations as Company Representatives and data assurance (QA/QC) as provided by vendors
• Overall ownership of IRM program finances, budgeting, timely issue of purchase orders, and payment of invoices
• Ensure compliance with related Dutch Legislation, as well as Guidance issued by organizations like IOGP and IMCA for best industry practice, and regulations/industry standards change
• Actively promote the use and development of improved existing and new technologies to replace manned diving by remote technology and alike
• Notification to all in- and external parties at the start and at the end of any execution campaign
• Engagement in larger Project related scopes to ensure compliance with adopted COMPANY subsea processes

The role also considers multiskilling with other technical areas such as subsea pipeline engineering and metocean disciplines, while emphasizing and encouraging integration into agile ways of working. This role has multiple interfaces with other discipline engineers, maintenance staff including field personnel and supervisors, project engineers, barge teams, external stakeholders (e.g., State Department of Mines, other offshore operators, etc.), Marine, HSSE, Geomatics, and Contractor personnel.

You are expected to build and maintain network within the Dutch industry and leverage technologies, and experience of the community to benefit company’s success. This role is mainly office-based in the north of the Netherlands; you are expected to go offshore occasionally.

What we need from you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can face the challenges of providing subsea engineering expertise to the mature assets and possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or higher in Engineering with professional experience in the underwater industry
• Knowledge of subsea operations in shallow water using Remotely Operated Vehicles, surface-supplied and saturation diving techniques, including deployment from various platforms (anchored or dynamically positioned vessels, small craft, or jack-up platforms)
• Experience in selecting appropriate inspection technologies (e.g., ACFM, FMD, USWT, FiGS, Swain, etc.)
• Skill in Dutch regulations, codes, and international standards applicable to underwater operations
• Monitoring developments in industry standards committees and research organizations (e.g., IOGP, IMCA, etc.)
• Experience in contributing to projects and modifications (e.g., jacket leg grouting, diamond wire cutting, HP water/grit cutting, hydraulic bolt tensioning, remote actuator operations, anode replacement)
• Experience with jobs from kick-off to close-out including audits, HAZOP, HAZID, briefings, progress meetings, incident/accident reviews, and site visits
• Knowledge of Subsea Control Systems for interventions
• Experience in subsea pipeline and offshore structures engineering, and/or metocean is a plus
• Experience with commercial aspects of services contracts and outsourcing engineering work to third-party contractors
• Strong knowledge / experience in Lean & Agile operating fundamentals is a plus
• Prior certification in a Supervisory ROV or Diving role a plus, but not necessarily required
• Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Elementz, MS Office, PowerBI, conceptual knowledge of vendor data viewing software
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently on several issues simultaneously
• Ability to lead and drive improvement initiatives across cross-functional teams including different cultures
• Strong influencing, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
