THE ROLE

As the Quality Manager in Shipbuilding, you will drive continuous improvement, implement robust quality control measures, and lead supplier evaluations for our naval shipbuilding projects. You will spearhead the Quality Assurance (QA) team, overseeing, advising, and reporting on quality issues. Your expertise will make a significant impact on our cutting-edge naval projects. Fluency in Dutch is essential, as key stakeholders include the Dutch and Belgian Navy. Our headquarters is in Vlissingen, so you will need to be willing to occasionally travel to that location, as well as to international shipyards and suppliers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the Project Quality Team: Provide strong leadership to ensure the team's effectiveness and cohesion.
• Develop and Improve Quality Policies: Design, implement, and continuously enhance quality policies and structures.
• Coordinate Quality Processes: Oversee and coordinate quality processes, fostering a quality-focused mindset within shipbuilding projects.
• Ensure Application of Quality Principles: Guarantee the proper application of quality management principles, protocols, and continuous improvement processes.
• Liaise with Government Representatives: Act as the main point of contact with the Government Quality Assurance Representative (GQAR) and provide all necessary QA information.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Quality Management, preferably acquired in the manufacturing industry.
• In possession of a relevant QA Certification.
• Familiar with manufacturing techniques and processes, i
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (Technical) Business Administration, or a relevant technical domain.
• Good command of the Dutch and English language, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to occasionally visit the Vlissingen headquarters of Damen Naval and undertake international travel.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
