About the Role: Process Improvement Engineer

We are looking for a Process Improvement Engineer to drive operational excellence at our Lincoln Manufacturing site, specifically focusing on the Pellet Plant area. This days-based position involves working Monday – Friday, leading shift teams, and enhancing performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expert understanding of pellet plant processes by collaborating with the Lincoln team and external entities.
  • Apply Six Sigma methodologies to improve process management and accuracy within the pellet plant.
  • Enhance standards (target 80% of time) using the QCDM framework; identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
  • Support "Maintain the Standard" methodology through coaching problem-solving skills.
  • Act as LSS Kaizen leader/Green belt to deliver productivity improvement projects.
  • Coach and develop the operations team and future potential specialists and process engineers.
  • Optimize training material and validation process with Trainers & MPE Execute team support.
  • Lead and support improvement projects, from minor changes through to Capex justification and commissioning.
  • Own and audit standard settings (IPS & system audits).
  • Foster a Continuous Improvement culture using the QCDM framework and methodology.
  • Own standard work for ZO and GOs within their area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the shift leadership team on appropriate problem-solving tools for preventative actions.
  • Work with central BU departments (such as NPD) on line trials, product and packaging development, and equipment improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Masters Degree level in a scientific or numerate discipline, or equivalent capability.
  • Proficient in Problem Solving and Lean Six Sigma / DMAIC (Green Belt).
  • Strong data analysis skills and technical/process engineering knowledge with experience in Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge consistently and methodically for problem-solving.
  • Adept at planning complex trials and analyzing collated data.
  • Understanding of production systems with competence in documenting, tracking, and auditing information.
  • Effective coach and facilitator, passionate about developing and training others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a cooperative style to build relationships and earn respect.
  • Assertive, independent, and self-sufficient; capable of handling pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with skills in action plan development and work stream prioritization.
  • Role model for Safety, Quality, and Food Safety behaviors.
  • Flexible working style to accommodate production area needs.
