They focus on how users interact with and navigate a product and work to create an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. UX Designers usually work closely with a team of developers and designers to create prototypes, test products and ensure that the final product meets all requirements. A UX Designer's role might also include user research, information architecture and content strategy. They tend to be creative types with experience in graphic and/or web design.

No, not typically. However, it may be useful to hire a UI/UX Designer with some coding knowledge. This can improve your team’s workflow since a UI/UX Designer with programming skills will be better at understanding what’s possible when designing a product. Also, their collaboration with developers will likely be smoother since they can better understand the constraints developers face when implementing their designs.
UX (User Experience) design refers to the high-level work of understanding the customer journey and translating this to the overall feel of a product. It also refers to the earliest stages of product design like prototyping, creating wireframes and testing this on the target audience.
UI (User Interface) Design focuses on the details and construction of a product's interface. It is considered as part of the UX design process but is oriented around the final stages of it like designing pages, buttons, UX copy and polishing.
