About Us: Acacia at Cisco

Acacia designs intelligent transceivers using advanced signal processing and photonic integration for the 100G, 400G and 1T bit speed fiber optic transmission market deployed in data center, metro, long-haul, and ultra-long haul telecommunication networks.

What You'll Do

You will design and run automated testing of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), assist development teams with design specifications, and improve production yields. Your role will be pivotal in delivering high-yielding, high-throughput processes across Acacia/Cisco’s product line of optoelectronic components and modules.

  • Collaborate with RF, silicon photonics, DSP, and module design teams for new product introduction, debug, and bring-up of new PICs and modules.
  • Develop test algorithms and calibration procedures.
  • Define and execute design verification test plans.
  • Be accountable for design verification documentation.
  • Support PIC level failure analysis and troubleshooting.

Who You'll Work With

As an integral part of our team, you will collaborate closely with our integrated silicon photonics, optical packaging, ASIC development and operations teams.

Who You Are

You are an expert in ASIC and PIC performance evaluation. You are knowledgeable in optical communications, including PAM4 and coherent optical communications. You are detail-oriented, high energy, and have the drive to get things done. You love to solve difficult problems and derive tremendous satisfaction in helping others while contributing to the overall success of the project.

You are capable of delivering on your own, but you also participate in our friendly and team-oriented collaborative approach, which means you enjoy learning from your colleagues and letting them learn from you. Your great personal and communication skills allow effortless collaboration within and across teams and steer the development in a positive direction. Your ability to articulate and clearly communicate in our hybrid work environment is paramount.

  • BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or a Master's with 3+ years of relevant experience or Ph.D. with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of industry or research experience with fiber optics components and test and measurement equipment.
  • 2+ years of industry or research experience with client optics DSP, SerDes, and its testing.
  • Knowledge of DAC/ADC operations and controls.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with high bandwidth RF, EO/OE testing.
  • Python for test automation.
  • Experience with JMP or similar data analysis software.
  • C++, Matlab programming, and VPI modelling experience.

Travel Requirements

You may be required to travel domestically and internationally to support customer development and internal Cisco collaboration.

Why Cisco?

#WeAreCisco. We are all unique, but collectively we bring our talents to work as a team, to develop innovative technology and power a more inclusive, digital future for everyone. How do we do it? Well, for starters – with people like you!

Nearly every internet connection around the world touches Cisco. We’re the Internet’s optimists. Our technology ensures data traveling at light speed across connections does so securely. It’s not just about what we make but what we make happen. We help those in the health service connect with patients and each other; enable schools, colleges, and universities to teach even in challenging times. We're helping businesses of all shapes and sizes connect with employees and customers in new ways, providing access to digital skills, and connecting the remotest parts of the world – whether through 5G, or otherwise.

We tackle whatever challenges come our way. We have each other’s backs, recognize accomplishments, and grow together. We celebrate and support one another – from life’s small and big moments to significant career milestones. Giving back is in our DNA (we get 10 days off each year to do just that).

We know that powering an inclusive future starts with us. Without diversity and a dedication to equality, there is no moving forward. Our 30 Inclusive Communities bring people together around commonalities or passions, leading the way. Together we’re committed to learning, listening, caring for our communities, and supporting the most vulnerable with a collective effort to make this world a better place through technology or our actions.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world-changing? Be you, with us! #WeAreCisco
