Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (part of the Damen Shipyards Group) develops and sells predominantly Tugs and Workboats. The hulls are produced in stock and then customized for clients. We offer service throughout the lifecycle of all types of vessels and perform repairs on steelwork or onboard equipment in case of damage or malfunction. The Role

As a Design & Proposal Engineer, you are responsible for handling customer requests by creating complete ship preliminary designs and determining the construction cost, ensuring the design meets customer and classification requirements while minimizing the cost price. You will work in the Design & Proposal Engineering department, closely collaborating with the Manager of the D&P department, Management, and the Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management departments. The commercial manager handles the commercial settlement.

Key Accountabilities

• Designing and adapting ships based on customer requirements, regulations, and standard designs.
• Preparing the general plan, technical specifications, cost price calculation, delivery time, offer, and presentation to the customer.
• Optimizing (standard) designs to reduce cost price and enhance the quality, reliability, and functionality of vessels.
• Conducting consultations with customers and various Damen departments and external parties (including engineers and subcontractors) to arrive at an optimized design.
• Supporting the marketing department by providing materials for press releases, brochures, and websites.

Skills & Experience

• Completed MBO 4/ HBO education in Shipbuilding/ Mechanical Engineering.
• Work experience with Engineering in Shipbuilding.
• Good command of Dutch and English in word and writing.
• You are customer-oriented, both internally and externally, communicatively skilled, can set priorities well, and work efficiently.
