Marine Mammal Observer Position at Gardline

Make your mark as a Marine Mammal Observer with Gardline!

The successful candidate will be expected to lead and undertake a wide variety of marine wildlife surveys, including marine mammal observations and passive acoustic monitoring. You will also provide general assistance to the project managers, lead scientists, and report writers with the production of marine wildlife reports.

Your Qualities

You can move ahead as a Marine Mammal Observer if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • A good understanding of marine mammals and seabirds; their biology and identification
  • A good understanding of marine mammal acoustics
  • A good command of written and spoken English
  • Willingness to travel (within Europe and East Coast of USA) on a fairly regular basis
  • Willingness to work on location for up to six weeks at a time, followed by up to four weeks’ leave.

  • Where you will work: Onboard our multi-role survey vessels, anywhere in the world where Gardline vessels operate.
  • Full time job: The position of Marine Mammal Observer is a full-time role, based on a 12-hour shift rotation whilst onboard.
