Industrial Placement: Naval Ships Electrical Engineer

Location: Scotstoun (Glasgow)

Start Date: 23rd June 2025

What You Will Be Doing

As an Undergraduate, you will play a pivotal part in suggesting electronic product content, optimizing hardware and software design concepts, developing sophisticated design processes, and testing complex products. You will gain exposure to the entire project lifecycle, playing a key role in maintaining our existing systems and developing new technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations about electronic product content, optimize hardware and software design concepts, and develop sophisticated design processes and test complex products.
  • Assess equipment behavior and fault diagnosis, evaluate new technologies and components.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and capture data, circuit/firmware simulation and modeling, data analysis, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Gain exposure to the entire project lifecycle, playing a key role in maintaining existing systems and developing new technologies.
  • Seek a stretch project outside of your primary remit to gain different experiences.

Skills

As a minimum requirement, you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics. You must be returning to university to complete your degree.
