What You Will Be Doing

Engage in one of the most advanced engineering projects in the world and the UK’s significant defence programmes. Develop your problem-solving skills by analyzing complex systems and understanding how changes impact the entire system. As a hardware engineer, you'll focus on various elements within a naval ship, aircraft carrier, or patrol vessel, ensuring system integration and testing throughout the product lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Capture and analyze requirements to understand customer/business needs.
• Undertake both initial design and detailed design activities.
• Produce drawings, circuits, and other documentation to track hardware design aspects.
• Resolve technical issues during design or testing activities.
• Support the creation of Procurement Specifications for system design item purchases.
• Develop hardware engineering capabilities to keep pace with best practices and technology.
• Articulate and present arguments clearly, logically, and simply.
• Undertake equipment testing to verify design requirements.
• Support hardware installation at sites and on ships, including EMC, shock, and vibration trials.

Skills and Qualifications

As a minimum requirement, candidates should be on track to obtain a 2.2 in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering. Candidates must be returning to university to complete their degree.
