Senior Accounting & Reporting Specialist

As a Senior Accounting & Reporting Specialist, you will be reporting to the Head of Financial Operations & Control (who reports to the CFO) and working alongside a Business Controller (current vacancy), an Accounts Receivable Assistant, an Accounts Payable Specialist, a Finance Assistant, and a Financial Accountant.

In addition to being a strong financial accountant (who can confidently post journal entries, write technical accounting memos and is able to build high-level Excel workpapers and reports), we are looking for someone who can extend their level of responsibility and lead the design of a new Budgeting and Forecasting process. While this will be a collaborative effort, it is expected that the Senior Accounting & Reporting Specialist will be the force behind the design process and implement a solid Budgeting and Forecasting process within one and a half to two years. Project management skills will be essential for this role.

Your Responsibilities

• Help to ensure an accurate and timely month-end close by preparing various workpapers, journal entries, and a wide range of general ledger account reconciliations (including prepayments, accruals, inter-company, fixed assets, and various other general ledger accounts).
• Help to maintain the General Ledger and ensure accounting policies are followed.
• Be the Project Lead in the design of the new budgeting and forecasting process, as well as being responsible for the delivery of the regular budgeting and forecasting work involved (which would, for the most part, be outside the month-end close).
• Confidently communicate and coordinate with other departments/colleagues to obtain transactional information, budget/forecast inputs, research reconciling items, and resolve issues.
• Lead accountant for the revenue and various other important accounting and reporting processes.
• Prepare a wide range of monthly internal financial reports for various Armada companies.
• Prepare quarterly BTW returns and other tax filings.
• Assist in implementation of new procedures (and potentially new systems) to enhance the workflow of the Finance department.
• Help to ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Assist in the annual audit with external auditors.
• Support overall department goals and objectives.
• Provide backup and support to the more junior team members, as needed.
• Help to review the work of more junior team members.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects and management inquiries.
• Continuously drive improvements to optimize processes and support process improvement, including recommendations for training and updates to procedures.

Your Profile

• Minimum Education: HBO financial education – ideally a Chartered Accountant or similar level of qualification.
• Minimum Experience: 3-5 years in a similar finance/accounting role.
• Working knowledge of Dutch Tax requirements (mainly VAT, Withholding tax is a plus).
• Experienced with various Accounting Systems (AccountView, Exact or Business Central is a plus).
• Experienced with Excel and power query.
• Project Management skills.
• Confident to engage with the CFO and various other reporting stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Organised and structured in the way you work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and Dutch is a plus.
• You are energetic and proactive in the way you work, knowing how to find that balance between giving it a go yourself and knowing when to ask for help.
• You enjoy helping more junior team members to learn and grow.
• You have a mindset of optimisation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
