The Role

Damen Naval is looking for a System Modelling Specialist - Naval Shipbuilding for a temporary period of 6 months.

As a System Modelling Specialist, you will create comprehensive system models for complex naval vessels, describe the vessel's functional behavior, and establish traceability from concept of operation to technical solutions. You will guide the project team, employing system architecture frameworks to enable seamless integration from enterprise to system level.

Your responsibilities will include developing a model-based system architecture for functional safety assessments, assisting in the requirements engineering process, and collaborating with system architects, design engineers, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Accountabilities

• Defining and updating system modelling processes.
• Evaluating suitable technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Conducting system analysis and translating requirements into technical specifications.
• Collaborating with software engineers to define system components and interfaces.
• Performing safety assessments and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring development teams.
• Enhancing system architecture practices and driving innovative frameworks.
• Engaging in effective communication with stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, preferably in shipbuilding.
• Experience in Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) and requirements engineering.
• Proficiency in advanced system modelling techniques (e.g., SysML, UAF).
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

Key competencies: teamwork, conscientiousness, strong communication skills, proactiveness, and planning focus.

Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Dutch and German is advantageous.
