You will participate in the design and implementation of the Business Plan of Procurement & Supply Chain. You will be responsible for the further development of Category Management within Van Oord. The main challenge is to develop the current position of Category Management to business partnership where supply chain initiatives are developed to improve the value proposition of Van Oord. The ideal candidate is expected to act as a coach, supporter and owner, without the urge to shine. The person in this role will be a leading member of the Procurement & Supply Chain department. Together with the Director Procurement and Supply Chain and colleagues, the Manager Procurement & Supply Chain will create overall synergy and strategy using their expertise and experience.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Helps Category Managers to develop and implement a category business plan that relates to your department and contributes to the development of Van Oord's corporate plan as a member of the Procurement & Supply Chain Management Team;
  • You follow market developments and prepare and implement the annual plan for your department by further interpreting Van Oord's strategic policy and annual corporate plan, in line with the Van Oord strategy and business plan, in order to steer your department's objectives and activities;
  • You oversee the development and initiation of improvements in work processes, procedures and reporting within the PSC department and together with the other departments in order to realize the optimal integration of processes within his own department and between the various departments, thereby guaranteeing the best possible result;
  • Oversee the staffing of, steering of and participation in projects from the perspective of your department in accordance with the project specifications and within the set guidelines and budget in order to realize the project objectives in an efficient and effective manner;
  • You contribute to the preparation and submission of tenders and the subsequent project preparation on behalf of your department within set guidelines and in line with your annual plan and the annual plans drawn up by other departments in order to achieve optimal project planning and/or allocation of people and/or equipment;
  • You guides, develop and assesses Category Managers in line with Van Oord HR policy in such a way as to guarantee the efficient and effective staffing of the department and the projects in terms of both numbers and quality.

ABOUT YOU

  • Operates and thinks at academic (WO) level);
  • 5 to 10 years’ relevant working experience and broad change management know-how;
  • Proven management skills, negotiating skills, cross-cultural social skills;
  • Excellent in translating and presenting ideas into a business case;
  • People person, clear communicator, good command of Dutch and English (written as well as spoken), organisational sensitivity, able to challenge others as well as himself, persuasive.
  • You should know how to deal with conflicts of interest and you are able to empathise;
  • Supporting and challenging role towards other managers and MT-members;
