What are you going to do?

You will be teaching Photograph Conservation at the Master’s (MSc) and Advanced Professional Programmes (APP) in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. Together with the present lecturer in Photograph Conservation, you will carry responsibility for the MSc and APP education of students following this track, nurturing the development of their academic and practical knowledge and skills through the delivery of inspiring lectures and workshops, developed according to the latest scientific and scholarly insights. You will guide and supervise students in their conservation treatments, internships, and research projects, and offer mentoring and advice to students in all phases of their four-year studies. You will also teach an introduction to photograph conservation in the BA minor programme, as well as photograph identification and preservation to students in related fields of conservation such as book and paper conservation and contemporary art conservation.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • up-keeping and maintaining the photograph conservation laboratory and the photography documentation studio;
  • attending meetings and lectures, preparing for teaching in consultation with the other Photograph Conservation lecturer and other colleagues;
  • marking (final) assignments, theses and papers, providing input on tests and test questions

What do you have to offer?

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic temporary replacement lecturer in Photograph Conservation, someone who enjoys guiding the development of students towards entering the conservation profession, and someone who likes to take on responsibility for the quality of our education programme in close collaboration with the rest of the team.

Your experience and profile:

  • you have evidence of ability and commitment to teaching photograph conservation at graduate level;
  • you have advanced experience and skills in the conservation of photographic materials of all kinds;
  • you have evidence of scholarly work such as published research and lectures on relevant conservations issues at (international) conferences;
  • you have a good command of the Dutch language, or are willing to learn Dutch;
  • you are pedagogically/didactically competent (able to cater to students’ starting situation, to teach a curriculum that has already been developed, to supervise students and to make an active contribution in meetings with fellow lecturers);
  • you have attained a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). If you have not attained a UTQ you are required to start with the UTQ track upon commencement of your employment contract;
  • you are able to teach in English with oral and written fluency.

What can we offer you?

Your salary, depending on relevant experience on commencement of the employment contract, ranges between € 3,226 to € 5,090 gross per month on the basis of a full working week of 38 hours. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8,3% year-end allowance. Favourable tax agreements may apply to applicants moving from abroad.
