Internal Communications Officer

Join Merus' Corporate Communications team as an Internal Communications Officer - based in Utrecht. This role offers a unique blend of internal and external communications responsibilities, focusing on developing creative communication plans and campaigns that enhance our internal culture and extend our brand externally. Reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Communications in the US, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our communication strategies.

Your Role:

The Internal Communications Officer is pivotal in both internal and also external communication processes. With your creative and strategic insights, you will create and organize events, manage communication tools and bridge the gap to our external communications, in particular through social media. You will work directly on enhancing employee engagement and well-being, as well as increasing Merus’ visibility in the broader community.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Creating and implementing effective internal communication strategies to enrich the organizational culture and support various campaigns and projects.
• Managing and enhancing internal communication tools such as SharePoint, ensuring active engagement and effective information dissemination across the company.
• Organizing and coordinating internal events like Town Halls, and managing follow-up activities to ensure ongoing engagement and feedback.
• Collaborating closely with the external communications team to manage social media platforms, gradually taking full responsibility for social media initiatives.
• Developing communication content that aligns with our corporate narrative and responding to external developments that impact internal stakeholders.

Your Profile:

The successful candidate is someone with profound coordinating skills and organizational sensitivity. You will need a strong foundation in communications, (both internal and external) and be a proactive and skilled communicator who will be able to take on a dynamic role that bridges internal strategies with external outreach.
Our Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.
• 3-4 years of relevant experience, preferably within a similar role.
• Capability to work in-person at our Utrecht office for at least four days a week, with occasional travel to the US (1-2 times per year).
• Strong proficiency with audio-visual tools and MS Office, alongside demonstrated expertise in social media and community management.
• Proven ability to manage communication projects independently, with a flexible, can-do attitude and a deep understanding of organizational cultures.
