Bachelor internship: Engine valve rotation measurement setup investigation

Job description

For our Engine System Verification department, we are looking for an internship to set up and perform valve rotational measurements on a running engine in test cell. Starting with the investigation of different measurement techniques that can be used for this. After review and selection process, the chosen technique to be set up and installed on an engine, with support of other departments.

Your activities for this internship will consist of:

• Investigation and review of different measurement setups for valve rotational movement;
• Arrange purchase of needed parts for the measurements;
• Make sketches and possibly drawings for manufacturing and installation of the selected measurement setup;
• Place order for manufacturing of needed parts;
• Conduct initial tests at Protobuild and organize engine build up;
• Perform the engine test in test cell;
• Analyze of data and reporting.

Your profile

You are:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor in for example engineering;
• Interested in performing measurements and analyzing of data;
• Interested in automotive engineering;
• A team player and success driven.

Department

The Engine System Verification department is part of the engine development and is performing verification testing at the Engine Test Center of DAF Trucks located in Eindhoven. Tests are performed to verify engine functionality on system and component level. This does include verification of hardware; software and calibration functionality.

The Engine System Verification department has people working at DAF Eindhoven and at PACCAR in the US. At DAF location the team exists of 14 engineers. The supervisor of the team is located at PACCAR in the US.
