Job Description:

Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Legal Department has approximately 500 employees worldwide in 40 countries. We provide legal advice and support that help our clients achieve the company’s business objectives in a manner that complies with applicable legal and ethical standards. Our practice areas include supporting all Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s business units as well as Ethics & Compliance, Litigation, Global Functions, Intellectual Property, Corporate, Securities, Mergers & Acquisitions as well as the support of all global regions.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified lawyer to join HPE in Helsinki, Finland. The successful applicant will join an established legal team, and will fulfil a varied, interesting role in an international, inspiring environment.

Legal Counsel Finland

As a legal counsel for HPE’s Legal team in Finland, you will deal with a broad variety of legal matters. You will be part of a professional, international, dynamical and high quality working environment, where personal development is stimulated and personal initiatives are encouraged. Due to the huge variety of your legal work, combined with good understanding of the business, you have a great opportunity to further develop both your personal and legal skills as well as to build your career within our global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide qualified legal support and strategic advice to HPE clients internally

  • Draft, review and negotiate various kinds of business agreements and other legal documents, including structuring, negotiating and closing complex deals, occasionally in multi-country transactions

  • Identify, analyze and resolve complex legal issues with solution-oriented focus while pragmatically balancing risk

  • Act as Legal Counsel for Finland and on a case-by-case basis also internationally

  • Manage third party disputes and litigation working closely with business

  • Support on regulatory and compliance matters, such as anti-corruption, public procurement and competition law, to help prevent non-compliance and mitigate business risks in these areas

  • Promote legal awareness and lead legal training to business teams, managers and team members

  • Collaborate seamlessly with the wider legal team outside of Finland providing advice and information to other teams such as Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, Government Relations, Security, HR, Intellectual Property, Litigation Team and CSM&A.

Education and Experience Required

  • A Master’s degree in Finnish law

  • 2 to 5 years of post-qualification commercial legal experience in an (ideally, international) law firm and/or in a legal department of a multinational company

  • Ability to translate complex legal or factual issues into plain language communications

  • Broad and deep knowledge of local/regional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Fluency in Finnish and English (written and spoken)

  • Prior experience in IT/IP law is a plus, but not essential.

  • International legal experience and/or education will be an advantage but is not a pre-requisite;

  • Affinity with and interested in Information Technology (IT) will be favorably considered.
