Arla Taw Valley Creamery

This is an exciting opportunity to join a hugely expanding site;

Our Taw Valley Creamery is to receive £180 million investment to become a state of the art cheese production site across our cheddar and mozzarella categories. One of the largest single UK investments for Arla Foods to date.

We process approximately 1.2 million litres of milk daily; producing over 100t of award winning cheeses, such as BOB, Castello Tickler, alongside butter and whey powder

Role Overview

Responsible for IT and Automation handling at the Taw Valley dairy

Assistance with operational support and incident handling across the dairy activities on site

Support with IT and automation expertise in projects and new implementations.

What will the role look like?

  • The overall tasks will be to follow and get closely involved in the design, development and commissioning phase of a new Mozzarella line project, and to represent Arla inputs and interests towards various stakeholders in the project.
  • As part of the this project a key task will be to ensure that the turnkey automation deliveries are carried out for optimal support of the production line in the various areas.
  • As the mozzarella project evolves, the tasks of the automation engineer will change to a more general role for the whole dairy.
  • The tasks for the automation engineer includes:
  • Work with other IT resources on site on the handling of IT and automation issues.
  • Actively participate in project related workshops on the various design specification, review and sign-off on functional design specifications.
  • Participate in various tests (e.g. factory and site acceptance tests) related to the mozzarella project.
  • During the ramp up period - continually come up with optimization and improvements to the process and working environment
  • Ensure that IT and automation is thoroughly anchored in the daily dairy operations

The successful candidate will likely have;

  • Education at Bachelor’s level or an equivalent experience within Electrical engineering, IT and Automation.
  • Strong experience detailed experience within an automated process environment – Food / Brewing / Pharmaceutical / Chemical · Hands on maintenance of Production IT systems.
  • Knowledge on Aveva WW, OEE and RMS is a big advantage. ·
  • PLC/S7 and OAS knowledge preferred · Experience from working in a multicultural and global environment/company.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels.
  • Team player, who contributes to a culture of shared knowledge
  • Can demonstrate a high level of self-motivation & creativity as well as determination to deliver results despite obstacles and setbacks
  • Ability to manage and organise a varied workload effectively, utilising available resources and achieving deadlines.
  • Bases work decisions on evidence and attention to detail
