As a Barclays Senior DevOps Engineer, you will focus to bridge the gap between development and operations for various business areas like Post Trade Technology, Wholesale Lending, CRM, and Sales. You will streamline software delivery and maintenance across these departments by implementing automation, collaboration tools, and a culture of shared responsibility. What will you be doing?

Following design specification and developing CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, eliminating manual intervention

Adopting, applying, and managing tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring

Working with development throughout the software development lifecycle

Analysing existing development and deployment processes, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement

Applying robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address system issues

Staying abreast of the latest DevOps tools, methodologies, and best practices

Evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance software delivery capabilities to Senior Manager

What we’re looking for:

Familiarity with Linux Fundamentals

Proficiency and competence in scripting/programming: skills in languages like Java, Groovy, Python, Bash, or similar for automation tasks

Competence in version management (Git, GitHub, GitLab, Policy as code)

Knowledge /exposure to JavaScript, Node.js, Ruby, PHP, DevSecOps (i.e., code analysis, vulnerability assessment) and to proactive monitoring (i.e., Nagios, Splunk)

Skills that will help you in the role:

Cloud Platforms: In-depth experience with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)

CI/CD Tools: Expert knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI/CD, etc)

Experience with tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet

Solid grasp of Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies
