Description of assignment

Vanderlande is a market-leading, global partner for logistic process automation. One of Vanderlande’s key products is the loopsorter which exists in a so-called crossbelt sorter a helix sorter that Vanderlande develops and produces. See also:Vanderlande CROSSORTER - YouTube.
The crossbelt sorter efficiently handles a diverse range of products by directing them into designated chutes. As the dimensions of these chutes significantly influence the layout of the sorting facility, optimizing them (in size) is crucial.To achieve optimal chute design, a deeper understanding of parcel properties and parcel sorting dynamics is necessary. This entails gathering essential data from parcels, such as weight and dimensions. Streamlining this data collection requires the development of a machine capable of accurately determining parcel properties.

Description of department

The Technology department (R&D) plays a key role in the continuous development of new products and technologies to strengthen our position in the market and differentiate our products. You'll join the Loopsorter team, situated within the Technology department. This team consists out of experts in Mechanical Development, Software/PLC Development, Electro-Mechanical Development, System Design and Test and Integration. With the collective strength of these competencies, we can excel in the development of Vanderlande’s loopsorter systems.

Your Profile

• Clarify the benefits of understanding parcel properties using computer models and MATLAB
• Understand the current possibilities of machines in the market
• Defining the requirements for a machine
• Creating a conceptual design
• Fabricating the prototype machine based on the conceptual design
• Implementing software programming for the machine
• Testing and validating the machine in our Innovation Centre or with key customers like Amazon or DHL
• Providing conclusive recommendations to Vanderlande for further improvements
• *Mandatory enrolment in a Dutch Education System and resident of The Netherlands.
