Job description

In the role of robotics software engineer at SAM XL you will be working on cutting edge technology in the field of smart manufacturing. This role allows for implementing both existing research, as well as your own novel ideas into usable (ROS) software components. You will get the opportunity to work on all parts of the robot software stack and for the specific role some emphasis on Inspection using sensors and software development for mature robotic solutions.

Requirements

You Bring:

  • MSc. (or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Robotics or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of related working experience.
  • Experience with C++ and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 is a plus.
  • Willing to work on MVPs and phases toward product realization.
  • Explore and expand existing SAM XL software.
  • Understands Agile/Scrum.
  • Able to work in a team and where needed take ownership.
  • Able to communicate own work within the team and outside SAM XL

Conditions of employment

  • A salary based on scale 10 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of
  • € 3.226,00 and a maximum of € 5.090,- gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

Faculty Aerospace Engineering

The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology is one of the world’s most highly ranked (and most comprehensive) research, education and innovation communities devoted entirely to aerospace engineering. Additional information

SAM XL is a collaborative research center of the Delft University of Technology (TUD) and several Industrial partners in the Netherlands. SAM XL develops robotics technology in combination with artificial intelligence and focusses on manufacturing processes and inspection/repair of (large) structures. World-class research from TUD are combined with expertise from the SAM XL team and industry partners to bring innovation towards industrialization. Open source software (ROS) is mixed with industry solutions to solve challenges that are not doable using conventional automation approaches. The multidisciplinary SAM XL team consists of Robotics Software, Robotics System, Mechatronics and Manufacturing Process Engineers.

In a dedicated factory space of 2000 m2 SAM XL has a large variety of robots, ranging from cobots and mobile manipulators to large-scale industrial robots as well as a large range of sensors and end-effectors which are combined into smart robotic systems.
