What you will be doing

Estimating is the discipline that produces and collates cost estimates for the purpose of determining bid prices and estimates to complete contract work. The estimating activity includes business winning and contract execution phases.

To achieve these objectives the Commercial function promulgates Commercial policies and process, delivers the effective management of contracts and carries out appropriate training to ensure that the function’s personnel have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their role effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination of cost and pricing activities to ensure all aspects of the programme and associated risks are fully costed and considered.
  • Generation of cost and pricing models to meet the needs of Business requirements.
  • Validation or challenge of functional estimate returns through the compilation of independent views to drive affordable and profitable solutions.
  • Generation of “what if” scenario cost modelling to support programme and management decision making.
  • Supporting price negotiations, Customer audits and fact finds.
  • Deploying cost estimates used in the price build-up to work area budgets.
  • Establishment of payment profiles and associated terms to meet the cash flow requirements of the Project.
  • Support the cost status report and the preparation of the “estimate to complete”.

Skills

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. All subjects are considered for this role.
