Do you want to work in an international environment on tenders for leading projects that contribute to climate adaptation? Do you enjoy working on the cutting edge of technology and commerce? Then this is the job for you!

The position

As Tender Engineer your challenge will be to coordinate the tender process for international dredging and integrated marine construction projects. In smaller tenders, you manage the tender process independently. In larger tenders, you work under a Tender Manager and cooperate with external parties and partners. You stimulate and motivate the team to come up with distinctive ideas and put together a winning bid. You organise the division of work and discuss the technical content with colleagues such as Planners and Cost Engineers.

Your responsibilities

You ensure that our tenders are substantively aligned and complete. You seek coordination with commercially responsible colleagues who know the client and market well. Depending on the composition of the tender team, you place more emphasis on process support or on technology so that they are well balanced.

Your workplace

Working from a group of several Tender Managers and Tender Engineers, you will work in tender teams with colleagues from the various specializations. The tender teams vary in composition and size, depending on the size of the project. The atmosphere is open and transparent: we easily engage in conversation and there is a great willingness to help each other. By nature, there is a lot of support for new colleagues. We take your preferences, knowledge and skills into account when allocating tenders.

In addition, these are your main responsibilities:

  • You write and draft tender documents;
  • You gather input from colleagues and challenge them when necessary;
  • You contribute to planning and risk sessions;
  • You organize the follow-up and handover of successful tenders;
  • You evaluate tender processes to continuously improve the way we work.

Job requirements

You have the winner's mentality needed to win tenders. To come up with distinctive bids, you are flexible and creative. You motivate, stimulate and have good communication skills to help the tender team function optimally. Do you also meet the following job requirements? Then we welcome your application for this vacancy!

  • You have a higher vocational or university degree;
  • You have at least 3 years of relevant work experience, for example in engineering, consultancy or project implementation;
  • You have experience in maritime technology (dredging, marine infra);
  • You are willing to occasionally travel internationally when necessary;
  • You have an excellent command of the English language.

An online assessment is part of the application procedure.

We offer

We are offering you a position in which you will make a significant contribution to our mission of 'building a better world for future generations' in an organisation that focuses on exclusive sections of the market. You will be part of a professional and collegial working environment. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • 32 holiday days (of which max. 7 collective);
  • a variable bonus, depending on the company result among other things;
  • an attractive travel allowance (€ 0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€ 2,15 per day);
  • flexible home working arrangement; on a fulltime basis you can work 2 days from home;
  • plenty development opportunities, including a very extensive online academy of Goodhabitz;
  • an attractive pension scheme;
  • unlimited use of our fitness room at our head office in Rotterdam;
  • various communities to become a member of, such as: Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
  • various events and sports activities, such as winter sports, sailing weekends, cycling and motorbike riding;
  • option of collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package).
