Are you looking for a challenging and innovative position in which you are directly involved in the (new) construction and modification projects of our ships and project equipment for Dredging, Offshore and Offshore Wind? Read on!

The position

Are you looking for a challenging and innovative position in which you are directly involved in the (new) construction and modification projects of our ships and project equipment for Dredging, Offshore and Offshore Wind? See your ideas become reality at Van Oord.

As a Project Engineer you are part of a multidisciplinary team. Depending on your interests, background and capabilities, you will work on new construction and modification projects of our ships and equipment. You apply new techniques and look for sustainable solutions.

Within your project team you are responsible for your own assignments in technically challenging and innovative projects with a clear focus on quality, costs and delivery time. You are involved in the entire project, from design, engineering to construction, commissioning and delivery. You see your own ideas become reality!

Our new construction projects include the largest Offshore Wind Installation Jack-Up Vessel, the innovative Cable Lay Vessel and modern dredgers. We also develop project-specific equipment. Examples include the development and construction of a Subsea Drilling Template, Pile-Updending tool for Offshore Wind projects, capacity upgrade of our Offshore Wind installation vessels, and project specific modifications to our Subsea Rock Installation vessels.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for a project engineer for our Technology department within the Ship Management Department, located in Rotterdam. This department is responsible for developing, building and modifying our sustainable equipment for Dredging, Offshore and Offshore Wind. As a project engineer you work together with external parties such as engineering firms, suppliers and subcontractors. You also communicate with the various parties involved in the project. You guide the stakeholders and report on the progress to your project managers. You will also:

  • Discuss the needs and possibilities of and with the internal customer;
  • Translate these customer needs into (the scope of) your project;
  • Guide and supervise during the construction and commissioning phase.

Job requirements

You are proactive and you have the ability to improvise with creative solutions. For this you also have the necessary strong communication and social skills. You don't mind occasional international travel for work. In addition, you have the following requirements:

  • You have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Technology, Marine Technology, or similar;
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with comparable equipment;
  • You master the Dutch and English language in word and writing.

We offer

We offer you a position in which you will have an important contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Additional allowances for working on board / on project locations abroad;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2.15 per day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Collective health insurance (optional);
  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • You can join communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
  • We organise several (sport) events, e.g. winter sport, weekend of sailing, cycling and a motorcycle tour.

Interested? Apply via the application form below. Do you have any questions? Please contact Kim Duifhuis.
