job description

As cost engineer your are responsible for the cost price of the product throughout the whole development process together with the customer. You act as product engineer in which you are continuously identifying risks and uncertainties in the product design, but from a cost perspective. You participate in the co-develop of the product but from a target cost price perspective. You strive to achieve to most value from the same product function. You present a strong technical knowhow to drive product cost on a technical level with proper communication skills, not only within the company but also to suppliers and customers.

Your tasks include:

• Continuously identifying costs risks and opportunities to product function and quality and mitigating them in either product design or supply chain
• Communicate, transferring and consolidating customer design, BOM, technical drawings, specifications, and documents into RFQ package for costing purposes
• Influence and finetune product design to reduce manufacturing cost from initial concept and throughout the product lifecycle, keep should costs in control and provide targets for supply chain management
• Utilize product cost price methodologies and tools and appropriate pricing models to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate data
• Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities though cost analysis reviews, participate and support product lifecycle cost down roadmap projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to improve system/part costs, costing model, RFQ analysis, and cost negotiations
• Understand the manufacturing landscape, capabilities, limitations, technologies available ad emerging to produce parts. Have a pulse on how thing are made and how they will be made in the future.

job requirements

We are seeking a socially and communicatively adept individual capable of making clear agreements. You should possess both creative and systematic thinking skills with a broad scope. Analytical skills, a helicopter view, and a pragmatic attitude are essential.

Additionally, you should have:

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or mechatronics;
• Over 2 years of experience in product development in the semiconductor or (high) tech industry;
• Over 2 years of experience in system development;
• Affinity with vacuum technology, fluid dynamics, contamination control, automation, and/or mechatronics;
• Familiarity with equipment/system design;
• Excellent command of the English language.
