The Lead Analyst – Merchant Acquiring is responsible for providing high quality support for Dyson’s commercial operations, primarily concerning payments by customers.

Improving the efficacy of customer payments will involve reducing costs and risk, and improving control of payment services in direct e-commerce, marketplaces and physical retail (‘payment teams’). Acting from a position of experience the role will be working closely with, and supporting, the payment teams with tenders, price negotiation, contract management, cost saving measures, solutions etc.

About the role

The role supports the Treasury team, especially in the execution of group funding actions, including new/refinancing existing debt and considering ongoing compliance with obligations under borrowing facilities.

The position requires a hands-on approach. Working closely with their line manager (Assistant Treasurer), this role will identify and assess issues, then consider and deliver solutions, including transformational activities, and ensure delivery of best-in-class performance.

The role will ideally be based in Singapore alongside most of the Treasury team. The line manager is in Bristol and the two have a global mandate between them. The role is 100% office based.

Responsibilities

Commercial

  • Engage with commercial teams globally to identify and optimize merchant acquiring and consumer finance solutions; leverage experience and business partners.

  • Identify routes to reduce merchant acquisition costs through assessing and challenging existing services, and by promoting and implementing more cost-effective alternate products, suppliers and strategies.

  • Assess internal reporting of merchant fees and consumer financing costs. Promote improvements in the reporting process to improve accuracy, understanding and impact.

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive library of contracts, fees and resources relating to payment service providers and Dyson’s activities in merchant acquiring. Function as the ‘go to’ business partner for information and analysis in this area. Negotiate with suppliers to improve terms.

  • Build solid working relationships with internal stakeholders including Commercial centrally and in regions / markets, Group Finance, IT, Tax and Accounting, to support the implementation of solutions.

Capital Markets

When engaging in the following tasks the Lead Analyst will be comprehensively guided. The extra variety in the role will enable the acquisition of broader skills.

  • Under the direction of an Assistant Treasurer, help to execute and maintain debt funding required to meet the needs of the Dyson Group. Work closely with key stakeholders internally (Legal, Group Finance, Tax, Communications etc) and external advisors to execute such transactions.

  • Keep appraised of developments in capital markets and consider opportunities relevant to Dyson.

  • Engage in relationship building with existing and potential lenders and investors.

  • Deliver compliance reporting related to external debt.

Other

  • Support and lead various ad hoc projects, either with a treasury focus, or supporting less-financially literate teams to consider and execute projects involving financial considerations.

  • Work with the wider Treasury team members to develop your and their skills and capabilities ensuring robust sharing of knowledge amongst the team.

  • Any other corporate or administrative responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Assistant Treasurer or Group Treasurer.

Personal attributes

  • Direct / proximate experience of merchant acquiring either at a payment service provider, bank or corporate / merchant.

  • Numerically competent with analytical skills sufficient to extract and manipulate disparate data, then identify priorities.

  • A willingness to learn about global capital markets. Capable of, and open to, assessing legal agreements.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • A strong team-player, able to empathise and influence.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a global environment.

  • Initiative to pick up, own and resolve issues with energy. Desire to create efficiencies and to sort things out thoroughly and early.

  • Confident and demonstrated experience in owning and running projects.
