About the role 

To achieve this growth, we are opening a campus in the Philippines where we ultimately plan to grow to over 80 engineers and technicians. This team will take full ownership of Build & Test for the Beauty category in the next 24 months. It is a crucial role for the success of the team and will be leading our transition project of Beauty Build & Test to the Philippines. Therefore, this role will report to our Director, Build & Test and be part of Build & Test Leadership team.

Based in Dyson’s Philippines Development Centre, this team provides the capability for supporting the development of Dyson products by producing prototypes and performing verification & test activities related to both software and hardware for all product categories.  Our Head of department role will be accountable for all the Product Verification activities for X-projects and Sustaining activities for the Beauty Product Unit.

Our category focused Heads of Build & Test are our people leaders. They develop our capability in line with long term business needs: recruiting, coaching, and developing our people & building the supporting infrastructure in our processes and our facilities. They set and explain the long-term vision, including annual goals and objectives. As the figurehead of an engineering department, they take accountability for the quality and timeliness of their team’s work, ensuring its productivity and cost effectiveness. 

   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Build and lead a team of skilled engineers and technicians providing clear guidance, mentorship, and support to drive their professional growth.

  • Design, organise and plan the team size and structure for sustainable growth meeting business needs.

  • Take responsibility to ensure delivery of high-quality verification strategy and test methods meeting Quality, Time, Cost and Spec.

  • Deliver strong and consistent operational results within the PTC verification test center.

  • Develop and cultivate strong working relationship among B&T sites, UK NPI and SEA NPD teams, Ops and Quality. Especially with Beauty PU leadership team.

  • Engage and support HSE, Security and Facilities team to ensure Safety of Employees and IP in the labs.

  • Be one of the leaders in Driving Innovation and Productivity among our B&T activities.

  • Create and Manage set of KPI to drive Business results and People development activities.

  • Work with other B&T heads to help support all B&T activities in PTC, be the site B&T leader for all the B&T employees on site.

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degree is preferred. 

  • Proven experience in Verification Testing, Quality Management and Lab Operations management, preferably within the consumer goods industry or related sectors. 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, managing and developing high-performing teams. 

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven experience in collaborating with people across the globe. You will be working with Beauty Product Unit folks, UK/SEA NPI/NPD teams, Ops team and Quality team… A lot of interfaces and partners to collaborate with.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving innovation and delivering results. 

  • Core Engineering Knowledge e.g. Reliability test methodologies, Reliability Assessment, Change Management, Risk & Issue Management.
