Join a Green Start-Up as a Data-Driven Algorithm Expert

Hi student,

We're a start-up focussing on the polluting and inefficient process of webshop returns. We enable retailers to send a return product straight from the product-returning consumer to the next consumer. The return product skips the warehouse, which saves CO2, packaging and logistic costs. The moment a consumer selects our return method, a product is directly put for sale again on the website of the retailer. At an optimum discount, calculated using our algorithm. We wrote an academic publication about our approach and algorithm (Python) with EUR and VU (assistant) professors and TNO. Recently, we received a substantial grant from the province of South Holland. In Q2 2024 we go live with our launching customer.

Your job: more and more retailers want to know the CO2 and savings potential for their company. Your job is to calculate this potential, by feeding our algorithm with historic sales and return data of the retailer and optimising its variables.

Our office is in Rotterdam (Zomerhofstraat 71) and we're founded and ran by two Erasmus alumni in their thirties. Pepijn is Tech Lead and Carl is Sales Lead. You will be guided by an experienced data-analyst who wrote our algorithm. We also have two TU Delft students who support our tech development.

We're looking for an econometrics student or like-wise study background. You have strong data-analytics and algorithm capabilities and are familiar with Python. If you and we like the collaboration, we have additional similar and next-step analysis for you to perform.
