As a Barclays Application Developer, you will have a wide technical knowledge to contribute to the design, analysis, architecture and development of class leading customers and colleagues facing web application and back-office workflow fulfilment APIs. Your role will be to support Customer On-Boarding and Account Opening Journeys based on a service-oriented architecture.

What will you be doing?

Participating in planning, analysis, and design sessions for new features to be developed

Working closely with business analysts to take a business requirement through to technical design and coding

Contributing to the coordination of third parties, such as vendors, outsourced partners/parent companies, to ensure the delivery of solutions across domains

Providing support in level of technical expertise, knowledge of current best practice and industry trends so as to act as a technical point of reference

Providing support to the test team so that they can test the features developed by the candidate

Giving a 3rd line support in investigating production issues and providing resolution

Creating CI/CD pipelines for integration and deployment

What we’re looking for:

Core Java - Collections, Design Patterns(Structural and Creational), OOPS concepts, String handling and manipulations

Solid grasp of DHTML, DOM, JSON, and Ajax and JBOSS as a deployment container& understanding of security mechanisms such as SSO and Active Directory

Pega Business Architecture, XSLT and WSDL, SQL and PLSQL

Relevant experience of DevOps delivery model

Skills that will help you in the role:

E Build languages such as Ant or Maven with continuous integration tools such as Team City or Jenkins

Developing and integration with Restful web services

Relevant experience of agile development techniques, i.e. test driven development, pair programming, etc and agile project methodologies such as scrum or kanban

Good understanding of any functional programming (FP) language – Scala or Haskell including Elm and Oracle, BIW, Teradata and IBM WAS

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
