Visible work: Your work and our platform is used every day by all PostNL data specialists. You develop reusable platform services, internal developer tooling and automation that simplify how data teams provision environments, deploy applications and manage cloud resources. By improving developer experience and reducing operational complexity, you help teams move from experimentation to production more efficiently to support analytics, machine learning and AI applications across logistics, sorting, customer contact and planning.
Challenge: You'll help us make a major platform transition. While our AWS environment continues to support business-critical solutions, we are building a new Databricks platform for the future. This combination of innovation, scale and migration creates a unique engineering challenge with a direct impact across our organisation.

Through the PostNL Academy, conferences and collaboration with experienced colleagues, you'll continue developing both your technical and engineering skills.

As a Software Engineer within our Data, Analytics & AI Platform team, you build and maintain the software platform that enables engineering teams across our organisation. You develop platform services, deployment pipelines and internal tooling that help teams build, deploy and operate data and AI solutions efficiently. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a key part of your work. Using Terraform and AWS CDK, you automate the setup of cloud infrastructure and platform resources. You also contribute to project templates and platform components that help engineers work in a consistent, reliable and scalable way.

You work closely with Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers and AI Engineers to understand their needs and improve the platform they use every day. Based on these insights, you translate engineering and MLOps best practices into reusable platform solutions and automation. While you do not build machine learning models yourself, you understand how data and AI solutions are developed and deployed. Through your work, you help teams across logistics, sorting, customer contact and planning spend less time managing infrastructure and more time delivering business value.

You join the Data Analytics Services team within the Data Center of Excellence. The team includes MLOps Engineers, Platform Engineers and Solution Consultants. You work closely with them, as well as with the data scientists and AI engineers who use your platform every day. The team works in an open, collaborative and innovative way. Wednesday is our office day, when the team comes together in person to collaborate, share knowledge, and connect. Together, we combine engineering excellence, data expertise, and collaboration to make data and AI innovation accessible across PostNL.

These are the highlights of this role:

• A gross monthly salary between €4,589 and €6,499 based on a 37-hour work week, but 32 hours is possible too.
• The opportunity to work in a hybrid way and organise your working hours flexibly. If you work from home two or more days per week, you will receive a net home office allowance of €45 per month.

You also recognise yourself in the following:

• You work and think at Bachelor's or Master's level, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• You have experience developing software in Python and it's nice if you know Typescript.
• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CDK and Terraform.
• You have experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• You have experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions. It is nice if you have experience designing reusable libraries, APIs or developer tooling.
• You have experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Databricks.
