Elsevier is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Data, AI & APIs (Scopus).

Role Overview

Scopus’ most valuable asset is its trusted scholarly data. As research workflows become increasingly programmable and AI-driven, the way this data is exposed, consumed, and monetized via Scopus and its APIs will define the next phase of growth.

As Senior Product Manager, you will own Scopus data as a product, with a primary focus on APIs, integrations, and AI-driven consumption. You are responsible for how data is packaged, exposed, and adopted both through Scopus.com experiences and across external ecosystems.

This is not a backend data role. You will operate as a data product leader, ensuring Scopus data is:

  • Discoverable and usable via world-class APIs
  • Embedded into customer workflows and partner systems
  • Ready for AI agents, LLM-powered use cases, and emerging integration patterns

You will work closely with data, content, and discovery teams who own the underlying assets, while you own how those assets create measurable customer and commercial value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Scopus APIs as a core product, driving adoption, usability, and revenue impact
  • Define how Scopus data is packaged, exposed, and monetized across internal and external channels
  • Build developer- and partner-friendly integration models, including SDKs, documentation, and onboarding flows
  • Enable AI-native use cases, ensuring Scopus data is accessible to agents, copilots, and LLM-driven workflows
  • Establish scalable API standards, data contracts, and governance models to ensure consistency and trust
  • Identify and prioritize high-value API and ecosystem opportunities (partners, platforms, integrations)
  • Improve end-to-end customer access (authentication, entitlements, cross-product journeys)
  • Partner with data and engineering teams to ensure reliable, high-quality, and compliant data delivery
  • Use customer insight and usage data to drive product decisions and value capture
  • Act as the single accountable owner for how Scopus data is consumed across the ecosystem

Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally working on data platforms, APIs, or platform ecosystems
  • Proven experience defining product strategy and delivering measurable customer and commercial outcomes
  • Experience with large-scale data products or platforms is strongly preferred

Technical & Analytical Strength

  • Strong understanding of data ecosystems, APIs, platform architectures, and integration patterns
  • Comfortable working with complex datasets and evidence-based decision making
  • Familiarity with AI/GenAI platforms, MCP patterns, or agent-based architectures
  • Experience working with AI-enabled processes and tools (e.g., using AI in product discovery, delivery, or decision-making) is a strong advantage

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Ability to influence across engineering, data science, UX, and go-to-market teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in complex environments
  • Ability to operate independently while aligning multiple teams around a shared platform vision

Why This Role Matters

Scopus’ trusted data underpins a global ecosystem of research tools, analytics, and insights. As research infrastructure becomes increasingly programmable and AI-driven, how this data is structured, governed, and delivered will define the next phase of Scopus’ growth. In this role, you will help shape the data platform that powers the future of scholarly intelligence.
