The European Central Bank is seeking an AI Enterprise Architect to join its new Artificial Intelligence Office, a central team dedicated to driving the adoption and responsible implementation of AI across the institution.

The team develops the ECB’s AI strategy, fosters a culture of innovation and empowers business areas to leverage AI for their specific needs. It is committed to ensuring that the institution remains at the forefront of technological advancements while adhering to the highest ethical and governance standards.

In this role, you will act as the technical link between business areas across the ECB, the AI Office and technical teams. You will align AI initiatives with strategic business objectives and ensure that AI solutions are designed to deliver maximum value through efficient reuse. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organisation to identify opportunities for AI-driven transformation, assess AI-related impacts on business processes and the organisation, translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications, and analyse how AI will transform business processes.

Your role

  • Design and implement a framework for AI across the institution.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for AI solutions, working closely with IT and data science teams.
  • Analyse the impact of AI on existing business processes and activities, as well as on the organisation.
  • Build a robust infrastructure, together with the relevant tools, for analysing the impact of AI.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for AI adoption across the ECB’s business areas, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and measure results following implementation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the application of AI to specific business domains.
  • Assess the feasibility and potential impact of proposed AI initiatives, developing business cases and value propositions to support investment decisions.
  • Ensure that AI solutions are designed and implemented in a manner that is scalable, sustainable and aligned with enterprise architecture and data governance frameworks.
  • Ensure technology changes reflect simplification.

The ECB is seeking candidates who demonstrate the potential for growth and will support the selected candidate in developing the required skills.

The organisation actively supports professional development through learning opportunities such as training and mentoring, and encourages horizontal mobility after some years in the same position.

The position offers the opportunity to drive the strategic integration of AI within a major European institution. You will play a pivotal role in transforming business processes and delivering innovative solutions for the benefit of European citizens. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
