Opportunity to join the ECB’s Artificial Intelligence Office as an AI Adoption Lead

You will be part of the ECB’s new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Office, a central team dedicated to driving the adoption and responsible implementation of AI across the institution. The team develops the AI strategy, fosters a culture of innovation and empowers the ECB’s business areas to leverage AI for their specific needs.

The AI Office is committed to ensuring that the institution remains at the forefront of technological advancements while adhering to the highest ethical and governance standards.

In this role, you will be a key driver of AI awareness and understanding throughout the institution. You will work closely with business areas across the ECB to demystify AI and promote its potential to enhance the ECB’s operations and decision-making processes.

Your role

As an AI Adoption Lead, you will:

  • focus on moving AI from theoretical use cases to daily business workflows;
  • drive the development and execution of the ECB-wide AI adoption plan;
  • ensure alignment of strategic objectives and measurable progress towards defined milestones;
  • design, deliver and continuously improve presentations, workshops and educational materials for a wide range of audiences and assess their impact on AI literacy across all levels of the institution;
  • serve as the central point of accountability for AI-related communication and inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate and actionable flow across business areas;
  • assume responsibility for translating complex AI concepts into actionable guidance tailored to the institution’s needs, and ensure that both technical and non-technical stakeholders are empowered to make informed decisions that drive AI adoption and transformation;
  • identify, prioritise and report on opportunities for AI-driven innovation, working with business areas to ensure that identified opportunities are translated into concrete projects with clear owners and timelines;
  • monitor emerging AI trends and assess their relevance and potential impact for ECB operations;
  • promote the ethical and responsible use of AI, ensuring that all initiatives align with institutional values and regulatory requirements and that risks are proactively identified and mitigated.

For this role, the ECB is seeking candidates who demonstrate the potential for growth, and it will support the selected candidate in developing the required skills.

The ECB actively supports professional development for its staff. Besides learning opportunities such as training and mentoring, it encourages and supports horizontal mobility after some years in the same position.

The position offers excellent opportunities to shape the future of AI within a major European institution. You will play a crucial role in building an AI-driven culture and making a tangible impact on the lives of European citizens. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

  • at least three years’ experience working with AI and machine learning, and their practical applications in a business context;
  • exceptional communication skills, including presenting complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, moderating workshops and delivering technical training – with the ability to influence senior stakeholders;
