The mission of Integrated Risk is focused on providing risk identification, aggregation and insight capabilities at Group level across the various Risk domains. The team department is using those capabilities across the various risk functions, to assume a general oversight of risk governance, policies and frameworks, and to steer group-wide model and implementation activities across locations.

The team

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department is responsible for setting the standard for INGs enterprise risk management framework and the internal control system development, maintenance and oversight. In addition, the ERM department is responsible for the governance, standards and tools and oversight for regulatory changes on Risk Policies and will be acting as functional owner for the iRisk architecture development, in cooperation with COO Risk and CTO.

Role and responsibilities

You are the specialist responsible for setting a standardized, one way of working through the entire Group, focusing on cross-functional alignment across the global risk domains and the matrix organisation with a view to strengthen the overall governance. You interact with internal stakeholders in the first and second line of defence, globally and bank-wide, as well as external stakeholders. You have central oversight on bank-wide risk topics not exclusively related to one risk type, ensuring a consistent approach across the various risk types. As the ERM Framework owner, you are responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and change management of the framework, promoting ERM-based governance and policy structures that fully support ING's financial, non-financial and strategic risk activities.

In addition, you will:

  • Define and supply Group functions and LEs with the criteria for assessing, managing, measuring, monitoring and communicating risk, ensuring that internal control binding principles at Group and LEs level are coherent.
  • Align the implementation of the ERM framework across all risk domains to achieve a consistent approach in managing risks and meeting ING’s ambitions.
  • Be responsible for alignment and consistency of all underlying frameworks of non-Financial risk, including Model Risk, Financial risk and Strategic risk.
  • Act as 2LoD central point of communication for group risk governance, policy structure and regulatory requirements, proactively involving stakeholders, challenging the status quo and driving changes.
  • Continuously review and update risk governance structures to ensure they are fit for purpose and in line with internal and external expectations.
  • Provide oversight of changing regulations and maintain the mapping between risk policies and external regulations.
  • Oversee and provide advice on the policy lifecycle management process to risk domain owners, policy editors and locations.
  • Initiate and embed changes in behaviour and culture via training and guidance from an Enterprise Risk Management perspective.

How to succeed

You are a strong collaborator who can navigate complexity and bring people together. You combine analytical skills with a hands-on approach and are comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

In addition, you have:

  • A bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance or Law.
  • More than 8 years of banking experience in risk management and compliance, including developing and implementing governance around risk management organisation, processes and internal control framework.
  • Clear understanding of ING governance model, ERM principles and mapping of EU regulations into ING internal control documents.
  • Strong interest in risk management, regulations and governance, with a focus on process development and further simplifications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player, willing to continuously learn and adapt in a fast-evolving regulatory environment.
