The Financial Risk (FR) department sets and controls the financial risk strategy across the bank by safeguarding ING’s financial health. The department provides strategic guidance on financial risk in banking and trading books and in relation to the ING balance sheet, in line with regulatory compliance, and acts as risk manager for Treasury activities globally.

The Balance Sheet Risk (BSR) department within FR looks after the risks in the entire bank’s balance sheet. The department covers all financial-related risks and contributes to the optimisation of positions on the balance sheet based on Regulatory and Economic Capital.

FR/BSR includes an Integrated Process Control (IPC) chapter looking after the integrated processes within Financial and control risk activities overarching to Financial Risk. IPC coordinates firm-wide and departmental change initiatives on processes and controls overarching to Financial Risk, including the set-up and definition of global data and infrastructure strategy and related control framework for FR.

Within this context, the Financial Risk Officer - BSR Integrated Process Control (IPC) plays a key role in executing FR strategy set by the FR MT.

What does a Financial Risk Officer IPC do?

As a Financial Risk Officer IPC you will help set the right priorities and change initiatives and align these to ING’s overall and FR domain-specific direction. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are key to maintaining good relations with stakeholders, other risk teams globally in head office as well as in local offices, Finance, external stakeholders, and the auditor of ING if required.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to analysis and advice regarding overarching financial risk management processes and controls.
  • Safeguard compliance of FR with ING internal policies as well as external policies and regulations from an operational process and control perspective.
  • Contribute to firm-wide and departmental change initiatives with the goal of making overarching financial risk management operational processes and controls efficient and effective.
  • Contribute to establishing and guiding FR on best practices in RCSA and KCT activities, including Sox404 testing.
  • Support FR in ad hoc requests within and from outside ING on FR processes and controls.
  • Support FR in remediation of gaps and mitigation of risks with regard to processes and controls.

Who are we looking for?

  • An experienced professional with an up-to-date high-level understanding of non-financial risk management, with a focus on banking and/or trading risk.
  • Excellent analytical skills on processes and controls, including data requirements.
  • Knowledge of ERM framework and NFR topics.
  • Key Control Testing and Sox testing process experience is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in the banking industry, specifically in a non-financial risk or audit area.
  • The ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Great team player skills with a hands-on mentality.
  • Excellent communication skills.
