Consultant, Global Sustainability Integration & Implementation Team

Are you passionate about making sustainability part of everyday business decisions? At ING, we believe banking can and should make a positive impact on people and the planet. We are looking for a Consultant to join our Integration & Implementation (I&I) team within Group Sustainability.

In this role, you will help integrate ING’s three key sustainability priorities—climate, nature, and human rights—into our businesses and key functions, with a primary focus on data, tooling, and systems. You will also support the proper integration of sustainability to meet our commitments and regulatory disclosure requirements.

Your work will help bring ING’s sustainability strategy to life in day-to-day decision-making and strategic priorities. You will collaborate with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including front office, risk, finance, IT, operations, compliance, and legal.

The Team

You will be part of Group Sustainability, a global department reporting directly to the CEO. Our team oversees the Sustainability Direction of ING Group. The team consists of 36 professionals with diverse backgrounds, nationalities, and expertise. We are organized into three sub-teams: Expertise, Integration & Implementation, and Stakeholder Engagement. Together, we work on embedding sustainability across all business lines and functions, collaborating with colleagues worldwide and engaging with external stakeholders. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a proactive mindset.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Consultant in the Integration & Implementation team, you will:

  • Lead strategic, tactical and ad-hoc change projects/deliverables/workstreams in the data and tooling area and set clear business requirements related to implementation of ESG topics, sharing these with relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate with key stakeholders to bring structure to the use of various tooling to integrate sustainability in core business processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Drive the creation of the right tools which are dynamic and can inform business to steer towards our sustainability ambitions.
  • Drive multiple automation projects relating to sustainability and regulatory reporting programs (Pillar 3 and CSRD).
  • Drive enhancements on ESG data governance including risk and controls.
  • Respond to queries and escalations from key stakeholders on systems architecture, design, and solutions.
  • Build effective working relationships and recognition with stakeholders that foster a proactive and consultative partnership.
  • Bring structure into a rapid changing and complex stakeholder relationship working environment, and actively take actions when progress is delayed.
  • Understand and connect the dots between various initiatives and workstreams to assess how sustainability can be prioritized where necessary and flag this accordingly.

How to Succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

You are a strong collaborator who can navigate complexity and bring people together. You combine analytical skills with a hands-on approach and are comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree (e.g. Computer Science, Technology, Mathematics, Sustainability).

  • Experience in leading and/or managing change projects relating to ING’s systems, architecture, and tooling relating to sustainability.
  • Experience in leading complex transformation projects and ability to deliver within strict deadlines and report on progress.
  • Ability to lead and work on multiple projects at the same time, juggle competing deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player who can collaborate well with complex and diverse stakeholders with varying interests.
