Operational Risk Manager

We are currently recruiting for an Operational Risk Manager for our Risk Division in MUFG Securities in Amsterdam.

MUFG Securities (Europe) N.V. is headquartered in Amsterdam and has a branch in Paris.

MUS(EU) conducts activities under an MiFID ‘EEA passport’ applicable to transactions with and services to all EEA clients.

Your main goal is to enhance and embed the operational risk management framework and to collaborate effectively with MUFG EMEA (MUSE) and MUFG Bank Europe (MBE) business and risk teams.

The role includes the following:

  • Development of an effective and proactive operational risk management framework to ensure that risks are identified, quantified and managed within risk appetite.
  • Responsibility for the Risk Control Self-Assessment process, guiding and challenging key stakeholders across the entity.
  • Key contributor for management of Information Security and IT related risks.
  • Development of the entity’s operational risk appetite and supporting limit and control framework, working closely with risk colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Driving the embedding of effective control monitoring, testing of key controls and evaluation of control effectiveness.
  • Responsible for incident management, conducting root cause analysis and fostering a risk-aware culture.
  • Development of Key Risk Indicators, risk reports and metrics to senior management, including active challenge and monitoring of risk profile.
  • Partner with the business and risk colleagues to support new business initiatives, performing evaluation against risk appetite.
  • Working closely with EMEA and MBE risk colleagues to develop relevant risk assessment and stress testing methodologies.
  • Active involvement in the ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery and Resolution Plan.
  • Preparation of meeting material and representation in local and EMEA risk committees and forums.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • At least 7+ years of relevant work experience in risk management within a regulated financial institution, preferably with an Academic (masters) degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Extensive experience in the field of non-financial risks and operational risk in particular.
  • Good knowledge of financial products including derivatives.
  • Experience in Information Security and IT Risk Management.
  • Good understanding of financial processes and ability to hold a holistic view of the institution’s risk profile.
  • Knowledge of risk management methodologies and financial regulation.
  • Experience of working across departments and functional fields.
  • Fluent language skills in English.

Additional information:

The role is based in the Netherlands. All candidates need to be willing to relocate to the Netherlands. Internal employees will be supported in case of relocation.
