About FRA

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) provides independent, evidence-based advice to policymakers, to help ensure full respect for fundamental rights across the EU, for everyone. To this end, the Agency collects and analyses information and data on a range of fundamental rights issues, provides assistance and expertise to EU Institutions and to EU Member States’ governments, raises rights awareness, communicates its findings and strengthens cooperation and ties between fundamental rights actors.

Traineeships at FRA

The traineeship is open to recent graduates who can bring fresh perspectives to FRA’s work. We are looking for motivated candidates who want to gain initial work experience in the agency’s areas of activity and explore career paths within the EU institutions. Prior work experience is not required. The call is also open to candidates who have recently completed a new university degree and are changing the direction of their professional career. To be eligible, you must have completed your most recent university studies within the past three years and no later than one month before the start of the traineeship. For this call, this means holding a degree obtained between 30 September 2023 and 1 September 2026.

The duty station of the traineeship will be in Vienna, Austria. One trainee will be placed in our Brussels Liaison Office.

Eligibility

  • Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union (27), EEA countries (3), or EU candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine), or potential candidate countries (Kosovo);
  • Have a very good knowledge of English, the working language of FRA (B2);
  • Have completed university studies (obtained a degree diploma) by one month prior to the start date of the traineeship (i.e. no later than 1 September 2026) and no more than 3 years prior to the start date of the traineeship.

(N.B. In accordance with the Rules governing the traineeship programme at FRA, candidates of Roma background must have completed either post-secondary education attested by a diploma or have completed secondary education and have obtained at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.)
