Mechanical Test Engineer

The EMEIA Division is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer for its Digital and Access Solutions (DAS) business. In this role, you will validate the mechanical design of electronic access control devices and develop the mechanical components of test equipment used in testing and production facilities. You will play a key role in ensuring product quality throughout the entire lifecycle — from the initial design and concept phase through to final delivery to our customers.

What you would do as Mechanical Test Engineer

These digital door locks still have a lot of mechanical and electromechanical components which need to integrate seamlessly to its digital counterparts and comply to strict standards and norms. Throughout this whole journey of the product, the quality needs to be ensured by doing extensive tests. Your job will be defining, organizing, and executing these tests by collaborating with our engineers with various backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

• Collaboration with design engineers from concept phase up to production to ensure the product quality throughout the whole life span;
• Develop and design test plans and procedures to validate mechanical components and systems;
• Set up and conduct tests on mechanical systems, including stress, strain, fatigue, vibration, and environmental testing;
• Analyse test results to identify performance trends, failures, or areas for improvement;
• Collaborate with design engineers and other stakeholders based on test outcomes;
• Design electromechanical production test fixtures;
• Coordinate and/or consult with the development team on how to test various system features and interfaces;
• Collaborate with manufacturers around the globe.

• Able to occasionally travel across EU and other ASSA ABLOY Regions;
• Experience in mechanical engineering/testing;
• Experience in certification testing, working with standardization;
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering;
