About the role

We’re scaling our Amsterdam hub – and we want product thinkers, creators, and doers to join us in building something impactful. As a Product Manager, you’ll lead the evolution of our banking platform used by global clients. You’ll collaborate with world-class teams, work in a modern agile environment, and help shape the next generation of financial technology.

Although you are the owner and hold the accountability, at this level we expect the guidance of and collaboration with more senior PMs and Engineering Managers to be high. That being said, you have several years of experience and are a professional and independent worker. This means that you are comfortable working with your team and you understand and are able to navigate team goals and dynamics.

At Backbase you develop your PM capabilities across these 4 main domains which are heavily emphasized towards product execution:

  • Working with the team (providing direction and guardrails)
  • Working with the process (methodology, execution and decision making)
  • Working with the product (visioning/ideation & measuring success)
  • Working with people (stakeholder relations, coordination & collaboration)

What you'll do

  • Drive the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery for key areas of our banking platform
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, business stakeholders, and other PMs to shape features from idea to launch
  • Conduct discovery and user research to deeply understand customer needs and industry trends
  • Prioritize trade-offs using data, feedback, and product intuition
  • Ensure successful execution – you own the outcome, not just the backlog

Who you are

Must-haves:

  • 5+ years experience as a Product Manager in a software product company
  • Strong track record of end-to-end product ownership (ideation → launch → iteration)
  • Experience working closely with software engineers and agile delivery teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A product mindset: customer-focused, curious, and outcome-driven

Good-to-haves (we’ll support your learning):

  • Familiarity with SaaS, cloud-native platforms, or digital platforms
  • Interest or experience in fintech, banking, or digital customer journeys
  • Knowledge of DevOps or observability tools
