About the role

As Research Lead (UX Research), you will build a lightweight but structured research practice that helps teams make better decisions. You will set up ResearchOps foundations, run high-impact studies, and make sure insights lead to real changes in the product. This role is also hands-on in innovation work, where you help move from insight to early solution design.

How we design and build

Work ships in small steps, but the goal is not small. New things get built, and what exists gets improved. Product management, design, and engineering work closely together.

Research is used to reduce uncertainty and to find better options early. It is not there to justify decisions already made. The goal is clear learning that leads to action. Accessibility and usability are baseline quality.

Code matters here. Buildable solutions matter. Close collaboration with engineers is part of daily work.

AI is part of the toolbox. It helps speed up exploration, analysis, and documentation. Human judgement, quality, and user impact remain the bar.

In this role, you will

• Build a practical research approach that fits everyday product delivery. Work is fast when needed and deeper when it matters.
• Establish ResearchOps basics. This includes a participant or user bank, templates, simple intake, consent-ready practices, and an insight library teams use.
• Plan and run studies end to end. This includes usability tests, interviews, and concept exploration. You can use simple quantitative inputs when useful, like surveys, usage data, or quick checks.
• Turn findings into clear recommendations and trade-offs. You facilitate workshops that lead to decisions.
• Help teams share and reuse learnings across products, so that the same things are not relearned repeatedly.
• Turn findings into flows or prototypes when needed. This helps kick-start solution work in innovation projects and speeds up delivery.

We’re looking for someone who

• Has strong hands-on UX research experience in product teams. You can plan, facilitate, analyse, and synthesise.
• Can build structure without slowing teams down. The approach is lightweight, repeatable, and useful.
• Communicates clearly in English and helps teams make decisions with evidence.
• Enjoys working across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Can also design in practice. You can turn findings into flows or prototypes to kick-start solution work with the team.

Nice to have

• Experience building ResearchOps (participant management, repositories, templates).
• Experience in public sector or other high-compliance environments.
• Accessibility or inclusive research experience.
• Comfort working with product data or analytics to support decisions.
