Do you thrive in an international scale-up environment and enjoy turning complexity into clarity? Are you motivated by building strong financial foundations that truly help people work better and by contributing to a more sustainable future? If so, you might be our next Financial Controller!

About GBM Works

GBM Works is advancing its Vibrojet® tool for the next generation of XXL monopiles in offshore wind energy. Our patented technology enables silent installation, reducing harm to marine life while addressing key industry challenges such as delays, fatigue damage and scalability issues.

What Would You Do?

In this role, you’ll help build and strengthen the financial backbone of GBM Works, ensuring control, transparency and scalability as we move into our next growth phase.

You’ll be responsible for structuring, improving and safeguarding our financial administration, reporting and internal control environment. Your mission is to translate strategy, projects and operations into clear financial insights, robust processes and reliable reporting.

Most importantly, you’ll ensure Finance remains a proactive business partner—supporting decision-making, managing risk and enabling sustainable growth rather than a purely administrative function.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, CTO, project leads, supply chain and external stakeholders, and play a key role in preparing the organisation for ISO 9001 certification and further professionalisation.

Your Role Will Include

  • Managing and further professionalising the financial administration with an external administrator (general ledger, project administration, AP/AR)
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Setting up and maintaining budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes
  • Monitoring project performance, costs and margins, and providing clear variance analyses
  • Establishing and documenting financial processes and internal controls
  • Strengthening the internal control framework to lead ISO 9001 certification before year-end 2026
  • Ensuring compliance with subsidies, grants and related reporting requirements
  • Supporting (subsidy) audits and acting as point of contact for external accountants
  • Improving financial system usage and data reliability
  • Supporting procurement and supply chain management from a financial control perspective
  • Monitoring inventory, supplier contracts and cost control within the supply chain
  • Identifying financial risks and proactively proposing mitigation measures
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of processes, efficiency and scalability

About You

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Financial Control, Audit or a similar role (experience in a start-up or scale-up is a strong plus)
  • A completed Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting, project control and reporting
  • Experienced in process description and documentation
  • Strong affinity with internal control and quality systems (experience with ISO 9001 is a plus)
  • A process-driven mindset: you enjoy structuring, optimising and safeguarding workflows
  • Knowledge of or affinity with supply chain management and procurement processes
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent Excel capabilities
  • Hands-on, proactive and comfortable in a fast-changing scale-up environment
  • Able to work independently while collaborating closely with different teams
  • A “get-things-done” mentality: you focus on solutions and ownership
  • Clear communicator, both written and verbal (English required, Dutch is a big plus)

We’re specifically looking for someone who is strong in process design and documentation, who naturally thinks in terms of internal controls, and who can help ensure we achieve ISO 9001 certification before the end of the year. A controller who is truly process-driven and understands the financial impact of supply chain management.

Workplace

This is a hybrid position and you’ll be expected to be at the office between two to three days a week. Our office is located at the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) in Amsterdam North, just a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. ETCA offers excellent facilities including onsite parking, a gym, a restaurant, and a high-quality coffee bar.

What Do We Offer?

We believe great work happens when people have ownership, trust and room to grow. At GBM Works, you’ll get:

  • A role with real impact—you’ll continue shaping the financial foundation of a growing technology scale-up
  • An option for 32 or 40 hours contract
  • End-to-end ownership of financial control processes, with freedom to improve and innovate
  • A front-row seat in a fast-growing scale-up within the offshore wind and energy transition sector
  • Collaboration with a highly motivated, international team working on meaningful technology
  • Hybrid working, offering flexibility and autonomy
  • A competitive, experience-based salary
  • Laptop and mobile phone
  • 25 paid holiday days
  • NS Business Card for commuting
  • Travel reimbursement for car and bicycle commuting, plus a working-from-home allowance
  • A personal development plan, with room to grow into broader finance or operational leadership
  • A modern workplace at ETCA Amsterdam, surrounded by innovation and sustainability initiatives

You’ll join a team of 22 professionals with diverse backgrounds, united by curiosity, ambition and a shared drive to make a real difference.
