Our Unilever Future Leaders Program is a 3 year program to develop tomorrow's leaders today.

This unique program is designed to develop Unilever’s Future Leaders (UFL) by providing challenging and purposeful opportunities that accelerate their readiness to take on business leadership roles. The programme encompasses three rotations within and across functions in an accelerated learning environment. This includes extended leadership contact, formal training, and professional development. We are looking for enterprising academics who take initiative and seize opportunities, who do not shy away from a challenge. Management trainees and interns who are goal-oriented and who want to unleash their ingenuity on our company. The question to ask: is Unilever right for you? Are you up for the challenge? We select on a personality profile and not on a specific study background. This means that you are welcome to apply with any university background.

For our future leaders program in the Benelux, you need to have a valid working permit for the Benelux at the start of the program. A so-called search year visa is not accepted.


Because we are looking for future leaders, our selection process is focused on discovering your potential. We therefore select mainly on personality, more than on your knowledge and skills.
Our digital selection procedure consists of four steps: you start with an online application, followed by a profile assessment through a couple of online games that look at different elements of cognitive, emotional and social traits. Then, a digital on-demand interview and lastly, an assessment day in our Discovery Centre. You can only apply for the UFLP one time per year and your motivation for the position is important, so make sure you know which role you want to apply for beforehand.


After completing my Master’s in Organisational Psychology, I joined Unilever’s Future Leaders Programme in the HR track because I wanted a role that offered challenge and growth. What makes UFLP unique is that it’s not a traditional traineeship, you’re trusted with real responsibility from day one and encouraged to think ahead. My journey has included rotations in expertise roles and talent partnering, and I’m now working as Global HR Business Partner for the Foods business. Beyond these core roles, I’ve had the chance to contribute to projects in HR transformation and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, which helped me broaden my perspective and drive meaningful change. The programme also provides access to senior mentorship and tailored learning opportunities, which have been instrumental in my development. This combination of autonomy, guidance, and exposure has shaped me both personally and professionally.




If I had more space, I’d highlight how smooth and welcoming the entire process was, from application to onboarding. I felt supported and part of the team right away. Working at HIVE has been eye-opening; the collaborative environment and access to experts make learning incredibly rewarding. I’ve gained insight into how innovation in food technology moves from concept to consumer, and seeing the impact of advanced fermentation on sustainability has been inspiring. Another aspect I truly value is the intern community—sharing ideas, lunches, and experiences creates a sense of belonging that makes every day enjoyable. This internship isn’t just about completing my thesis; it’s about growing in a dynamic business setting, tackling real challenges, and building confidence for the future.
